Steam roller causing delays in Chippenham
A STEAM roller is causing massive delays on London Road in Chippenham.
The slow roller, on its way into Chippenham for the annual Castle Combe Steam Rally over the weekend, is causing miles of tailbacks and traffic chaos along the A4.

Massive delays? I drove past it on the way to Calne, when it was between the Saab Garage and the roundabout, I came back 40 Mins later and it was negotiating the roundabout at the bridge center. 40 mins is hardly a massive delay. Not this was around the school run time, so it was probably down to all the parents picking the kids up in there 4x4's that was the major cause of any traffic.

But what right has a lumbering museum piece like this got to obstruct the highway - why couldn't it be on a low-loader?

Let's hope the Chelsea Tractor drivers doing the school run don't find out that these wonderful modes of transport are zero rated for road tax, also, no fuel tax on coal.

Perhaps if we all went back to the time of steam then we would all have a better quality of life. Lets all just slow down. I shall be at Castle comb cheering them on. I drive a Morris minor so I do not rush anywhere. Perhaps you have been stuck behind me in the past. Ha Ha.
